Launching of the Active Committee for Contracted Teachers

After 7 years of activism and mobilizations on the ground, and with the partnership with FES, the active committee of the contracted teachers in the public primary schools, were able to increase their collective campaigning and negotiation capacities. In addition to this, they lobbied using the newly gained tools to obtain their license after years of having it put on hold for political reasons.

For this, on the 1^st of September 2024, the active committee of the contracted teachers in the public primary schools became an official organization acknowledged by the Lebanese state under the name of The Contracted Teachers League in Public Primary Schools (CTLP) in partnership with FES-Lebanon. The official launching of the CTLP will facilitate the mobilization and campaigning of the contracted teachers as they have become an official and acknowledged organization that stand up for the contracted teachers rights.

FES will commit to supporting CTLP and other active trade unions in their struggle for more just working and living conditions and for a better future for the workers of Lebanon.
