About FES

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) is the oldest political foundation in Germany, committed to the values of social democracy, social justice, and international solidarity.

FES Lebanon works across a number of thematic areas aimed at promoting social justice, democratic governance, gender equality, and inclusive development. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute the following fields:

  • Social and Economic Justice: social and economic reforms and supporting Independent trade unions movements.
  • Democracy and Rule of Law: including efforts to strengthen participatory governance, judicial independence, local governance, support for progressive movements, and building more inclusive, transparent democratic institutions.
  • Gender Justice / Political Feminism: promoting gender justice, women’s rights, participation and political feminism, integrating feminist perspectives in economic and social policy.
  • Inter-Societal and Regional Dialogue: supporting secularism, inclusive civic engagement, knowledge production, policy research, regional cooperation and dialogue across societal divides.

About the Internship

FES Lebanon is offering an internship opportunity for motivated students or recent graduates who are passionate about social and political developments in Lebanon and the MENA region. The internship will provide hands-on experience in project coordination, research, communication, and event support.

Key Responsibilities

  • The intern will support the FES Lebanon team in the following areas:
  • Conduct background research and assist in drafting reports, briefs, and event summaries
  • Support in planning, coordination, and implementation of conferences, workshops, and dialogues
  • Assist with communication and digital content, including social media and newsletters
  • Provide logistical and administrative support to ongoing projects
  • Assist in outreach and engagement with partner organizations, youth groups, and stakeholders

Eligibility and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s student (or recent graduate) in Political Science, Social Sciences, Economics, International Relations, Law, Communication, or related field
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills
  • Interest in social democracy, gender equality, youth participation, and public policy
  • Proficiency in English and Arabic (French or German is an asset)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Familiarity with MS Office and social media tools is an advantage

  • Location: Beirut, Lebanon
  • Working Modality: Office
  • Duration: 3 months
  • Start Date: 1st January 2026
  • This is a paid (compensated) internship.
