International Women’s Day 2023

What it means to be a woman in Lebanon

As inspiring young researchers and advocates in the field of social justice, and as part of FES Lebanon young leaders program (LEAP), Fabienne Semaan and Hadi Fakih took the initiative to lead a small investigative project that aimed to highlight the stories of women from various backgrounds residing in Lebanon. Their project was motivated by the belief that all fights are intersectional when it comes to social justice. Fabienne and Hadi firmly believe that the struggles of women in Lebanon cannot be viewed in isolation from the larger context of social and political inequality. Our hope is that this report contributes to a broader conversation around the challenges faced by women in Lebanon and inspire more action towards achieving gender equality and social justice.
