Engaging Local Authorities In Data Collection About Climate Change

Local actors from Tyre and Batroun were engaged in discussions about Climate Change and measures to be taken within their municipal area.

Within the framework of the study being conducted by the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs at the American University of Beirut, the town halls of Tyre and Batroun hosted two meetings for multiple stakeholders from each city as part of the study on the vulnerability to Climate Change in these two cities.

The meetings emphasized on the importance of involving the actors from civil society in decision making on the local level and raising their awareness about the current status of climate change globally. An input was collected from attendees about their observations of climate change consequences and most important sectors to be protected within their communities
