Workshop on Health, Safety and Environment in Hydrocarbon Exploration

A workshop on HSE was organized by the Lebanese Oil and Gas Initiative (LOGI) in order to raise awareness and knowledge level among civil society actors.

LOGI works on enhancing regional cooperation and mitigating the environmental effects of oil and gas exploration in Lebanon. Through their partnership with FES, they are actively pursuing these goals as part of their strategic vision for 2018. For this reason, LOGI organized a workshop aimed at boosting civil society organizations’ ability to understand what the requirements of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) standards in oil exploration, and to enhance expertise in these issues among partners.

The workshop included sessions and exercises that addressed about the legal and institutional frameworks of HSE in Lebanon, gaps that need to be filled, and the roles of various stakeholders. Ministry representatives, experts and civil society actors participated in the workshop alongside the Lebanese Petroleum Administration (LPA). This diversity of stakeholders stimulated the discussions and encouraged the sharing of relevant information and knowledge.
