Arab Region Meeting

The Arab Region Meeting of Global Union Federations (GUFs) and Trade Union Solidarity Support Organizations (TUSSO’s) was held on September 11–12, 2025, in Beirut. Organized with the support of FES Lebanon, the meeting brought together trade union representatives, experts, and solidarity partners from across the region to exchange experiences and strengthen cooperation. Discussions focused on international and regional union campaigns around democracy at work, digital platforms, just transition, health and safety, and the care economy. Participants also examined the challenges facing trade union freedoms and independent unions in the Arab region, identifying common obstacles and prospects for collaboration. A special session was dedicated to Lebanon, exploring new strategies for union engagement and highlighting the emerging movement of contracted teachers. The two-day event provided a platform to build shared strategies, deepen solidarity, and reaffirm the role of unions in promoting rights, reform, and social justice.
